Which employment type offers more security?
Contract or perm?
Honestly, there is very little in it. Particularly in the current market conditions, and specifically in the short term.
Typically, businesses will lean into contract arrangements during “uncertain” times. It offers more flexibility, can be funded from project budgets, and is easier to roll people on and off. Whilst that doesn’t necessarily translate into security, it does give an indication of the potential focus for hiring orgs.
My belief is that times have changed. I view the two employment types as being equal in terms of security.
There are different risk factors to consider in the contract vs perm decision, but, security isn’t one of the major points.
