Payroll Specialist
Ready to take the next step beyond a traditional Payroll Officer role?
This is an opportunity to take greater ownership of complex, end-to-end payroll while remaining genuinely hands-on. You’ll manage your own pay groups, solve more technical payroll issues and help improve the way payroll is delivered.
There’s no people management involved. It’s ideal for an experienced Payroll Officer who wants more responsibility, autonomy and technical exposure without moving away from the work they enjoy.
What you’ll be doing
- Owning end-to-end payroll across assigned pay groups
- Managing pre-pay, pay-run and post-pay activities
- Processing complex transactions, including terminations, back pay, leave adjustments and corrections
- Completing reconciliations, controls and exception checks
- Investigating payroll discrepancies and resolving employee queries
- Working with HR, Finance and operational stakeholders
- Supporting system improvements, testing and process enhancements
- Providing guidance to other team members when needed
What we’re looking for
You’ll be an experienced Payroll Officer or Payroll Specialist who is confident managing payroll deadlines and working through complex issues.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Strong end-to-end payroll experience
- Experience within a high-volume or complex payroll environment
- Knowledge of Awards, Enterprise Agreements, superannuation, taxation and leave
- Confidence completing reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
- Strong Excel and payroll system experience
- A proactive, accountable and detail-focused approach
Experience with Dayforce would be top of the list
Failing this – another integrated payroll system required.
