Here at Precision Sourcing, we like to have a theme each month and August was dubbed Authentic August!
Now that we are in September, I can authentically say that I was glad to see the back of August. It was the toughest month that I have had since I returned to work so when that calendar ticked over to September, I was relieved.
September means spring, September means saying goodbye to the horrible winter germs that took hold of my family and September means that I can reflect on how my working life was impacted by my family troubles.
During August, I really struggled.
At the start of the month, I was struck down with the worst case of the flu/tonsillitis that I have had since I was a schoolgirl and bedridden for 5 days. Thankfully, my son and partner managed to keep it at bay but it knocked me for 6.
Then in the middle of the month, we moved house (very tough to do with a toddler who unpacks each box as you pack them) and also decided to move daycare. I am very sad to say goodbye to Jennys Kindy as my son has been VERY happy there, it is a great centre so hopefully, his new daycare in the suburbs is just as nice…. (cue mum guilt).
At the end of the month, I realised that my work life had been impacted and after spending the weekend moving house, I came into the office on a Tuesday feeling very deflated and very emotional. Thankfully, having worked here for so long, crying in front of my boss is OK 😊
So, welcome September. I am going to name this month ‘Smash it September’
September for me is full of promise and has been a good month so far as a #workingmum
September has seen work pick up again. I have gone along to the work PT sessions. I’ve had the odd swim in my pool in my new suburban house and my life as a #workingmum has been a little less painful.
So, if I have learnt anything it would be not to take this #workingmum life lightly. It is a very precariously balanced juggling act. One thing falls out of place and your whole world can come tumbling down. It’s all about building it back up again…… just like my son does with his toy blocks after he has demolished them. I think that he will teach me a thing or two…..
